100 comments on “Thom Yorke: We Live In Strange Times (It’s Not My Fault)

  1. I love how he and the band have matured, both personally and musically, over the years. Their music has been distinct, unique, but always evolving.

  2. I stopped dreaming. I don't see them anymore. I live only during the day. After seeing a dream and realizing it wasn't true, were the moments where i have been the closest of blowing my head off. They tear me apart, they don' heal me. I'm filled with regret and sadness after a dream that is the most wonderful, happy, warm you can think off. It just isn't true anymore, if it ever was and i can not turn back time to fix things i could not fix then. Been now like this for years and my depression has leveled off immensely. I don't live in a darkened apartment wallowing in my sadness thinking about tragedies in my past and the moments before that i live over and over again in my dreams. It is where i want to be but can never get there again. So, to stop me looking behind, i had to turn away from dreams completely. Additional benefit is that my thoughts are conscious, they are based on this reality.

  3. Colbert interrupted Yorke at the worst time ever. After an entire interview of slowly nudging him to open up, he was starting to express something profound about dreams when Colbert had to cut him off with “do you have recurring dreams”.

So annoying. Which sucks because for the most part Colbert did an alright drop, but for some reason in that moment he decided to cut him off right as he was about to actually say something interesting :/

Frustrating to watch since Yorke doesn’t like to usually open up in interviews to that degree, as you can tell he’s an introvert and is hesitant to get too far into things

  4. So happy that Thom Yorke likes Stephen so much to talk to him. I couldn’t see him talking to any other late night host.

  5. Well, that was a bloody awesome interview. It's vaguely disturbing that a person that smart didn't decide to go into a different field, but I guess I'm glad he didn't, his music is pretty amazing.

  6. 10:40 you can see the green guys in the reflection in the metal door behind and slightly to the right of Thom…

  7. It's so sad to see Thom Yorke drink the carbon tax fraud kool aid. You would think he would spot the deception, but no hes buying right into it

  8. I love how the band didn't play Radiohead's most popular songs. Instead they played The national anthem and A wolf at the door. Impressive.

  9. "Being knighted" doesn't mean fuck anymore anyways, just look at some of the recently knighted people. It is only about knowing the right person at the irght time, not much else.

  10. "…they're gonna take us off the cliff with them, and as they do it they're saying it's the will of the people." Great quote.

  11. Anima is the word we use in italian to mean "soul". It comes from latin, anima or also animus, which are affiliates to the ancient greek ànemos, meaning "blow", "wind". Basically, what makes the body of an organism alive: the principle of life. From which, also, the word 'animal', animale in italian.

  12. England is a depressing place to live. In spite of that, a pleasant memory surfaces to get me through another night in zombieland:
The first time I heard Kid A from start to finish was one of the best and most memorable nights of my life.

  13. 10:22 Now I'm imagining all the invisible green men holding things up around me in real life that I can't see. That would be some next level Truman Show stuff right there.

  14. i dont know why but for some reason stephen colbert is on my number 1 most hated person list. but it's all ok when i realize that he is such a successful person all on his own and that he never got help from anyone at all to get to where he is now 🙂

  15. I enjoyed this interview last night, awesome stuff. And I had just seen Thom two nights earlier for his show in Pittsburgh. He was great as you'd expect.

  16. The following will be 2 new song titles on Thom Yorke’s next solo album, which will itself be entitled “luminous green onesies” 😂
Song 1- “yes. No. Maybe “
    Song 2- “no…? Pass. Next”

  17. Thom Yorke – you are a delight. True story – I have a recurring dream in which we’re friends and you and the band come to dinner at my house when you perform locally.

  18. I love how the video title "we live in strange times (it's not my fault)" sounds like it could be the title of a Radiohead song

  19. I thought he said and meant enema, meaning the importance of getting rid of the s*it in ur life, 😜😜😂😂😂

  20. I dreamed last night that I was driving around rather aimlessly on roads I didn't know and in places where cars don't normally go. In a '56 VW Bug like my mom drove when I was a kid.

I heard years ago that, when you are driving a vehicle, the vehicle represents yourself. I am wandering aimlessly is one possible interpretation of this dream.

I want to find people who are interested in ending poverty and promoting a sustainable society. I have ideas for how to do that: We should charge fees to industries that put pollution or deplete natural resources or disturb / destroy wildlife habitat; Fee proceeds should be shared to all people (Estimated value of natural resources and services: >$100/day for every person on Earth).

I share the idea on Twitter and Facebook. People 'Like' and sometimes share. But for a proposal that would end poverty and promote sustainability, it doesn't seem to be spreading as fast as might be expected.

I don't know where to go with it. [I took it to an academic conference and was told (besides that it is eminently clear and intelligible) that it would require change in human nature and it was weakened by 'leftist tendencies'. No explanation about what change in human nature would be require in order to charge fees to industries proportional to pollution, or to take random polls to learn whether more people wanted more, or less, of this or that pollutant.]

Who cares whether we make prices honest and share natural wealth … enough to want to carry the best ideas for how to do that forward to a larger audience?

What ARE the best ideas for how to do that? Is there a better way to end poverty and establish a sustainable society?
